Metadata

Metadata are useful for describing e.g. the origin of the data. Sets of metadata can be specified for the different types of data, i.e. time series, thematic layers, spreadsheets and documents/pictures.

Manage metadata

The metadata button in the Database management Settings opens a dialog for managing metadata.

Note: Care should be taken when modifying (deleting/renaming) metadata, especially in a context where databases are exchanged between different users. It is advisable that a set of metadata are defined and agreed prior to e.g. merging databases.

Add metadata

In the Meta-data definition dialog select data type and click on the Add button.

In the Add meta-data field dialog:

  • Specify metadata name;

  • Specify metadata type.

Rename metadata

Select the relevant row in the left (empty) column, click rename and type the new name and click “Rename”.

Delete metadata

Select the relevant row in the left (empty) column, click the “Delete” button.

Keywords

Sets of relevant keywords can be defined for all the different types of data, i.e. time series, thematic layers, spreadsheets, documents and pictures. Keywords are used to filter the data according to keywords.

Defining keywords

The Keywords button in the Database management settings opens a menu where keywords can added for the various types of data.

Select the Data type from the drop-down list and click on the add button . Type the name of the new keyword and click OK.

Use the remove button to delete keywords.

Note: The keywords are shown in the sequence they have been defined in the dialog. They are displayed alphabetically when they are selected for the various data.
